Do you know what a "POWER CHIP" is?

Power chip, is it the same thing as a reprogram? Is it a product, or is it a service?

When thinking about looking for power, acceleration or torque, it is quite common to hear an indication to install a "power chip". But in the end, what is this "POWER CHIP"?

Before knowing what the power chip is and how it works, we need to explain how an ECU (Electronic Control Unit) works, we will highlight 3 main functions:

- DATA processing by the ECU

- sensor reading

- control of actuators

Performing the sensor reading procedure, we were able to identify data on the ECU about wheel speed, engine RPM, intake air temperature, engine load, among many others.

With this information, the ECU crosses and interprets the data, defining how the vehicle should behave in that work situation, then sending commands to various electronic actuators such as injectors, watergate, throttle body, among others.

What is a POWER CHIP?

Power chip is an external module, installed in the car to change the information that is sent to the central (ECU). It obtains the values that are received from the car's sensors, changes this received information and sends this altered signal to the electronic central.

To clarify, a power chip, as the name implies, acts directly on the engine power. Then he changes the sensors to look like they're lower: the car puts out more power.

How it works

The Power CHIP is a product, an external part that interferes in the three summarized steps of the operation of an electronic injection that we mentioned at the beginning of the text.

The command signals sent by the ECU to the actuators (after identification and processing of sensor readings) are mathematically multiplied to induce the actuators to work more aggressively.

What is the difference between a reprogram and a power chip?

Electronic injection reprogramming (remap) is a service that teaches the ECU to work in a regime imposed by the engineers according to the customer's objective. That is, it is not according to a factory preset.

The power chip, on the other hand, cannot build smooth linear gain. So we can say that ECU reprogramming (remap) teaches a new way of working. While the chip tricks the actuators, making them work at odds with the ECU's commands.
