AFTER ALL, WHAT IS ELECTRONIC INJECTION?

ELECTRONIC INJECTION is the system responsible for controlling the mixture between air and fuel that makes the car engine work. A few years ago this function was performed by the carburetor. However, as the control was done mechanically, the control over the mixture was much less, making it not homogeneous.

Basically, the electronic injection controls the intake of air and fuel in the engine through an electronic control unit. This control is done with the help of several sensors, which pass different parameters and information to the control unit, including:

⦁ Fuel quality

⦁ Atmospheric pressure

⦁ Ambient temperature

⦁ Engine temperature

⦁ Throttle position, among many others.

Central

With the data sent by these sensors, the electronic central defines which quantities of air and fuel will be admitted by the engine at that moment, balancing performance, consumption and pollutant emissions. Such balance is achieved by means of actuators such as fuel injectors, fuel pump, spark coil, stepper motor and the cooling fan. These are the elements that correct the ignition timing and valve control, in addition to controlling the idle speed.

By being electronically controlled, the electronic injection allows a much more linear operation of the engine. It occurs without failures or difficulty starting with a cold engine and with better performance and reduced fuel consumption and emissions. The system also gives fewer defects than the old carburetor.
